Awards & Achievements

WICHITA BUSSINESS JOURNAL
Excellence In Healthcare: November 2024

How did you choose a career in health care? Initially, I pursued archaeology, driven by a passion for discovery and history. However, while working at a children's hospital, my eyes opened to the impact of caring for young patients and this inspired me to transition into medicine, where I could combine my love for science with a commitment to improving lives.

What is your greatest professional achievement? My greatest professional achievement is building a thriving and reputable practice from the ground up. Through dedication, compassionate care, and a patient-centered approach, I have fostered a steadily growing practice that not only meets but exceeds the expectations of our community.

What is the biggest career challenge you have faced? The biggest challenge I faced was during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. Navigating the demand for health-care services, ensuring patient safety, and managing the emotional toll on both patients and staff tested my leadership and resilience. Despite these challenges, we adapted swiftly, implemented innovative solutions, and continued to provide exceptional care under extraordinary circumstances.

Who was your most important mentor and what was their best advice? My most important mentor was Dr. Paul Callaway. He was my program director during residency, and he always pushed me to do my best in patient care and ethical practice.

What is the best advice you would give to someone considering a career in health care? My advice to aspiring health-care professionals is to take your time and explore various specialties through shadowing and hands-on experiences. Additionally, always seize opportunities to work and learn, as it leaves a lasting impression on your mentors and shapes your career.
